By Laura, UK registered nurse
For years on the wards I ran on cereal, packet soup and a sad sandwich with one slice of cheese. I was tired and foggy, and I thought that was who I was.
It is not a willpower problem. Some of the afternoon slump is your body clock, some is last night’s sleep, and some is how your meals are built. You can change two of those three.
This book is how you find out which one is yours, in a fortnight, with a pen and no monitor. It tells you what the research shows and, where nobody has proved it, it says so.

Who wrote it
I’m Laura, a UK registered nurse. I qualified nine years ago, started on a surgical colorectal ward, and spent years on thirteen hour shifts eating whatever was nearest. I have been the patient as well as the nurse.
Every claim in this book is checked against NHS and NICE guidance, and the book names its sources so you can check them too. No supplements, no sponsors, and nothing to buy afterwards.
